» Over the weekend, the lines of black-clad citizens stretched for several kilometres. On the one side, mourners queued up from the entrance of the Grand Palace, went round Sanam Luang and further down Ratchadamnoen Klang, past Democracy Monument with the line ending around Wat Ratchanadda near Pan Fah Bridge. On the other side, the queue went towards Ror Dor Junction. The waiting time was as long as 10 hours.

» TrueVisions, the veteran cable TV service provider, in January sent viewers reeling after a decision to discontinue six major TV and film channels -- most notably those under the HBO brand. The company then announced plans to drop an additional 11 channels from its line-up just a month later and though the operator has replaced the cancelled channels with seven new ones, plus giving other incentives to its million-plus subscribers, the clamour has been audible.

» When the news broke late last year that TrueVisions -- the largest cable TV service provider in Thailand -- would be cutting off six film and television series channels from their line-up beginning this year, a swathe of the network's subscribers were left in doubt as to the necessity of actually owning a cable TV subscription.
