» Golf's best players understand the immense importance of the short game. They put as many hours into their full swings as they do wedges, chipping, sand play and putting, as they know this will lead to better scores. Practising hard on your chipping and putting can bring your score down fast, it's up to you. The trouble is that so many golfers think that practising the short game is hard work, that's why so few of us do it.

» What should your hips do when you swing? -- well, your right hip will move up and back as you take the club away from the ball, and then up into a solid position as the lower body starts to generate power. The left leg should remain a little flexed as the right straightens on the backswing. I have to mention here that straightening your right leg is not set in stone, and if it works better for you -- keep a little spring in it.
