» In 1958, legendary Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen together with furniture design company Fritz Hansen conceived the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen -- the first ever design-driven hotel in the world. Believing in "Gesamtkunstwerk", meaning "the total environment", every single aspect of the hotel, from wallpaper to cutlery, was designed to harmonise perfectly with the others. Yet it was Jacobsen's simple but sculptural chairs, designed for lobbies and lounges, that caught the eye of aesthetes. Technologically innovative, lacking in any straight lines, and full of seductive but simple curves, the timeless Egg, Swan and Drop chairs eventually became his global legacy.

» 1:Galerie Oasis Bangkok's newest art venue, located above Cinema Oasis (Sukhumvit 43) will be launching today with Piyatat Hemmatat's Eden Part II: An Exhibition Of Bronze Sculptures & Photographs. In continuation of "Eden, Part I", in Charoen Krung's Serindia Gallery, the photographer and contemporary artist explores the concept and idea of banned substances through 3D bronze sculptures. Recreating his own Garden of Eden, Piyatat has moulded Biblical serpents that turn into enticing hands and eyeballs, sprouting serpent hearts, and many more creatures that comprise the mythology of this era. » Three years ago, Manit Sriwanichpoom's "Forgotten Thai Masters Of Photography" exhibition was one of the most anticipated and intriguing shows of "Photo Bangkok 2015". In fact, the photographer and curator had unearthed seven master Thai photographers of the past several decades, nearly forgotten and lost through time, and revived them for contemporary viewers through several shows at his Kathmandu Photo Gallery since early 2010s.
