LIFE

Come for the comedy, stay for the music

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 03/07/2020

» I'm usually quite sceptical when it comes to Will Ferrell's movies. Although I think he's a fairly funny guy, I also know that his trademark over the top blustering slapstick sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. But since the new musical comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga was directed by David Dobkin, who directed the decent Wedding Crashers (2005), and with Ferrell who co-wrote and produced the film, I decided to give this new Netflix feature a try. While I don't think this comedy is necessarily funny, the production value, the pacing, the music and choreography are surprisingly well done. And especially the romcom of the two lead characters Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams is sweet, heartfelt, and definitely worth the watch.

Newish twist on a classic tale

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 29/05/2020

» Growing up, we were all familiar with the name of the Brothers Grimm who left us such an astounding legacy of folklore and fairy tales collected and published from the 19th century, like Snow White, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty And The Beast, that have been made into hundreds of TV shows and films, animated and otherwise, over the years. However, when we think of fairy tales, we most likely think of cute Disney versions, but the original Grimm fairy tales weren't actually intended for children and are incredibly gruesome in tone.

And nearly a decade since disbanding and disappearing from the spotlight, and following the successful release of Beastie Boys Book in 2018, the remaining two Beastie Boys, Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock), teamed up with award-winning director Spike Jonze to share with fans the full story of their band and 40 years of friendship in this live documentary experience, Beastie Boys Story.
