Taxi drivers protest outside the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on Phahon Yothin Road yesterday demanding Minister Varawut Silpa-archa extend the operating life of taxis from nine to 12 years. The ministry reportedly disagreed with the extension on the grounds that old taxis contribute to dust pollution.  However,  Mr Varawut later bowed to their demand  on condition they have their vehicles checked every three months, and  promised to submit the matter today to the cabinet for consideration.
