Chiang Rai Published caption : Wat Ming Muang was built in 1262 during the reign of King Mengrai the Great (1239-1311). The temple houses a sacred Buddha image. Locals believe the temple was renovated by the queen of King Mengrai while his mother also liked to practise meditation in the wooden ubosot. The temple has been renovated several times. Today it also houses Burmese-style Buddha images.
