
Helsinki Cathedral, also knownas the White Church, is theFinnish Evangelical Lutherancathedral of Helsinki. Builtbetween 1830 and 1852,it was originally named StNicholas’ Church in tribute toTsar Nicholas I of Russia, whoreigned from 1825-1855 andwhose titles included GrandDuke of Finland and King ofPoland. The church’s name waschanged to its present one in1917, following independence.
