The prison, which currently houses more than 3,700 inmates, functions like any other jail, detaining and categorising inmates in line with the severity of their crimes. However, it plays some additional roles. The prison offers training courses to prepare inmates for professions on the outside, teaching them skills such as baking, furniture production and farming. It also provides library services, to allow them to pursue their interests and practise on their own. Interested buyers can purchase products made by prisoners at the Bangkok Remand Prison.
