The United States believes that some Asean members do share the same concerns regarding threats to regional autonomy, economic security and sustainable development in the region, its senior officer says without identifying any country in particular. “It is more significant now, our partnership, and I suspect others might share some of this perspective in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics in this very region,” says Patrick Murphy, US principle deputy assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, during his opening remarks at the Friends of Lower Mekong (FLM) Senior Official Meeting (SOM) which was co-chaired by Thailand in Bangkok on Thursday. +++++++++++++++++ Published caption:: W Patrick Murphy, left, is pictured along with Nikorndej Balankura, right, during opening remarks at the Friends of Lower Mekong initiative late last week in Bangkok.
