The Pattani Central Mosque is situatedon Yarang Road in Muang Municipality.The construction was started in 1954and completed in 1963. The constructioncost was over 3 million baht and the lateKing Bhumibol Adulyadej gave 200,000baht of his personal money to the project.The mosque serves as a centre for ThaiMuslims to perform religious ceremonies.It resembles the Taj Mahal, a monumentof love in India. It has a big dome in themiddle, along with four smaller domesand two towers on both sides. Inside themosque are halls with balconies, includingthe left hall for women. In the middle ofthe main hall stands an elevated seat fora spiritual leader to lead in prayers.
