Wang Na. The Front Palace initially boasted three buildings:Siwamokphiman Throne Hall as the meeting hall for the uparat andofficials, Phutthaisawan Throne Hall for enshrining Phra PhutthaSihing, a major Buddha statue, and hosting auspicious royalceremonies and Moo Phra Vimarn as a cluster of the viceroys’living quarters. Its architecture is different from the Grand Palacein several ways. While the Grand Palace’s throne halls boastprasart-style (highly pointed and multi-tiered) roofs paved withlacquer tiles, the Front Palace’s have one- or double-tiered gableroofs covered with uncoated earthen tiles. The Front Palace’s roofsmust not be fully decorated, as those of the Grand Palace are.
