    How the 'mighty' fall

    News, Postbag, Published on 13/05/2019

» Re: "Bandits with 'high status'", (Editorial, May 11). The story about someone of "high status" bullying a low-ranking police officer is not rare in our society. This is because our culture pays respect to phu yai -- our elders. In doing his duty, Lance Corporal Ekapol Juisongkaeo was reprimanded and demoted by his boss for "failing to use judgement" by demanding a man of high status show his driving licence.

    Democratic justice

    News, Postbag, Published on 13/04/2019

» I wish to thank the 12 diplomats and their respective democratic countries for finally supporting the Thai people. Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai's comment, "It's an intervention in our justice system" is a joke. Without a truly democratically elected government there is no justice.

Trials and tribulations of Bangkok taxis

News, Anchalee Kongrut, Published on 20/03/2017

» The cab driver pressed on the accelerator, driving fast and furiously until I felt enough was enough; I ordered him to pull over, gave him the fare and stepped out of the car. Picking up a local passenger like me from a shopping mall on Sukhumvit Road is not a way for him to make much money. I bet he drove straight back along the same road to pick up tourists.

The dangers of daily life in the capital

News, Umesh Pandey, Published on 15/07/2016

» The front-page picture in our paper yesterday showing how much damage a 20-minute fire, that started randomly at On Nut BTS station, could cause took many of us by surprise and I for one am not buying the statement that the construction quality of the station's elevator was "standard".
