Angry factory worker stabs colleague

» A woman confessed to stabbing to death a fellow factory worker suspected of having burgled her room. The incident took place at the RT Transport Company in Banglamung. Nuanchawee Boonphrom, age 34, told police that she had murdered Kaesorn Sukpee, 44, in cold blood  after a furious argument about thefts. The dead woman was found with knife wounds amid pools of blood, but her bankbook and mobile phone had not been stolen. Police found no evidence that the dead woman had stolen Nuanchawee’s property. Investigations continue.

Motorbike thieves rob Swiss woman

» A woman carrying 7,000 baht, a mobile phone, a credit card and a passport was attacked as she was driving along Soi Buakhao on her motorbike. Milica Ceh, age 48, apparently was followed by two men on a motorbike who bumped into her bike causing it to crash. In the confusion, the 48-year-old woman lost her shoulder bag containing the valuables. She was taken to hospital. Police assigned a special detective to look into the case. The assaulted woman was unable to give a detailed description of her attackers but said they were men wearing black T-shirts.

Snooker legend plays in Pattaya

» Snooker legend Ken Doherty will play a series of exhibition matches here in Pattaya, starting at The Kilkenny Bar on Soi LK Metro on Sunday, Sept. 8. The following evening, Monday, he will play at the Sportsman Pub on Beach Road Soi 13. Both events start at 8 p.m.

» Amorn Chaivongfhun, a 26-year-old Thai women, reported at the Pattaya police station that she had been cheated of a valuable iPhone. She claimed to have met a man in a shop on Walking Street who said he could provide an excellent time in bed. After accepting his offer and going to his room, Amorn stepped into the shower and the man stepped out of the room with her 20,000-baht mobile phone. Police later caught 46-year-old Chalermporn Saeung who admitted to the theft and offered to return the iPhone to avoid going to jail. He was released after giving back the telephone and paying a 2,000 baht fine.

Mystery gun found in nightclub

» Police raided a nightclub on Third Road and asked the merrymakers to pass urine in plastic cups, all of which proved negative for banned substances. However, the raid did reveal a loaded handgun in the club’s office. Nobody came forward to claim ownership of the weapon and the police confiscated as evidence. The next day a big shot turned up at Pattaya police station and reported the name and address of the gun’s owner. A police spokesman said the gun had not yet been checked to determine if it was properly registered.

Chips down in a poker game

» Police raided a house on Pratumnak Road where several men and women were playing poker for high-stakes. Police seized the poker table, playing cards, poker chips and, of course, piles of cash&#8211;reportedly about 300,000 baht. Officers also discovered an account book revealing that the illegal gambling had been going on for several months. American Matthew Mortensen was said to be one of the organizers, whilst two Cambodians in the den were assistants earning around 2,000 baht a time. Seven people were taken into custody; others managed to escape through side exits and windows.

Bag snatcher pleads poverty

» A man confessed that he couldn’t find a job and was so short of money that he snatched bags from tourists to fund a better lifestyle. Purin Boonkuer, 31, was accused of robbing a purse from Russian visitor Natalie Shipilova, who said he was just leaving a convenience store when the alleged snatch occurred. Several people gave chase and made a citizens’ arrest.

Motorbike taxi driver killed in accident

» A 27-year-old taxi man, Somchai Nokpueak, was killed when his motorbike collided with a car at the junction of Third Road and Soi Lenkee. The driver of the car, Warawat Phosajunt, said he was en route to a local hospital with an 80-year-old woman when the motorbike appeared at high speed and attempted to overtake her car resulting in an unavoidable accident.

Swiss pensioner accused of indecency

» Robert Nonstantine, 69-year-old former owner of a gay bar in Pattaya, was arrested for alleged offences involving young boys at his Banglamung home. Officers said they found incriminating photos and computer clips of the Swiss man harassing pre-pubescent boys. Nonstantine allegedly used Thai accomplices to lure 10- to 13-year-old boys to his home, and arranged for his gay friends to meet with the youths. The youngsters were paid up to 300 baht and told not to tell anyone about the incidents. The suspect said that the boys simply came to his house to swim and he denied any wrongdoing.
