Light from seaside skyscrapers reflects on the seawater at the marina, as restaurants and beach bars light up for the night. Tourists fill the streets, looking for fun.

» After making a donation, Apiluk Ongsiriporn and his wife Nichaphat Pornyoskrai left the orphanage in Phang Nga province and headed to the turtle shelter on the beach. Here, the newlyweds learned about the perils of sea life for turtles and then decided to adopt a turtle. The baby turtle is named, marked, installed with a microchip for monitoring, and then released back to sea. Their donation will go to help other turtles in the future.

Grateful for an opportunity to take the weight off my feet, I sat there contentedly, shortly before dusk, observing the congestion as hundreds of motorcycles, electric scooters, buses and cars crawled past, the noise level suggesting that all the drivers were leaning on their horns at the same time.
