Roy: A film to test the patience

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 20/02/2015

» As a movie that takes forever to start and forever to end, glaciers move faster than Roy. Coined as a "romantic thriller", this work of 147 minutes by debut director Vikramjit Singh is anything but and should instead be called a patience tester. The man on the moon

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 28/04/2017

» The 60th-anniversary celebration of the Speedmaster featured plenty of stardust (I mean celebrities), but the event also saw the attendance of the space hero who wore Omega's rigorous test-racing watches to the Moon. Looking resplendent in a jazzy American-flag tie, with three Omega watches on his wrist and a highly unexpected number of rings for an 87-year-old, Buzz Aldrin is still a hoot when talking about his mission 48 years ago. With a laugh, the man insists he is living proof that the concept of selfies existed in his time too. After all, he first decided he wanted to take a photo of himself in space in 1966. It's only fitting that such a character inspired the name of Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear.

» Sitamon "Peach" Pholdee is adorned in huge, glittery musical notes that dangle from her ears and is wearing Sretsis and Saint Laurent silver boots -- thus confirming all the gab we've heard before that she is always excessively and fabulously dressed. That she must be in the spotlight as a consequence of being married to the nation's ultimate heartthrob, Jesdaporn "Tik" Pholdee, has absolutely nothing to do with it.

» As the Covid-19 pandemic is easing in some places around the world, one city that was among the hardest hit last year is emerging from the desolation in a glittering manner. Earlier this month, Italian jeweller Bvlgari unveiled their latest high jewellery collection Magnifica in Milan, in a spectacular manner nothing short of high-octane lavishness.

» It was a mixed blessing for Norse Republics when they first added the Swiss premium furniture brand, Vitra, to their roster of high-end, design-savvy furnishings back in February. The global pandemic of Covid-19 meant that the official launch to introduce the brand would have to be postponed, while importing was also met with delays due to hindered cargo transportation. However, there couldn't have been a better time for Vitra to announce itself in Thailand, what with working spaces and workflow drastically changing in these past few months.

» Sebastian Copeland's upcoming plans include making another trip to the North Pole. It's nothing new for the photographer-cum-explorer, but there is an unsettling condition about this journey he is about to make. Not because he is now 54, nor due to the hazardous method he has chosen: walking. The most disturbing factor is that this is probably the last time he can do something like this.
