    family visa

By Anonymous, Created on: 02/01/2004, Last updated on: 12/09/2006

» When the Thai government will allow foreigners with Thai spouse and children to own a one year visa without the need to travel out of the country every 3 month or to show 800 thousands bahts in a bank account, this is very unfair and even most of the Thais don't earn this sum per year, why this discrimination...

    • Anonymous commented : their roots as southern Asian stocks. Without mentioning our roots, if people bornt in Thailand and living in Thailand than they should respect the land and the people who cultivated and died for this land. I said many times in this forum that if you wanted to live like someone elses, then you should go live in those places other than in Thailand. We, Thais, always respect those countries where we visited and lived or currently living...because it is our way of live, and we are taught by our ancestors. Juta, i would forgive Ian and all other colonialists like the Cochins since they have lost their indigenous cultures long long times ago by various invaders of their European homelands. They have lost touch with their spiritual ancestors and worshipping foreign gods and things. In some sense, they were colonized totally long ago.

    British Embassy in Bangkok

By Anonymous, Created on: 05/10/2004, Last updated on: 25/02/2011

» In March, my Thai partner wanted to visit me in London. Before granting a visa, the Embassy wanted a mountain of paperwork including proof of my income, whether or not I woned my own home and a whole lot of other things. At this stage, I have to say that we have many controversial issues in the UK...

    • Anonymous commented : Well. I've heard it all now and everyone is telling the same old story. I too am in that position, having experienced the wrath of the ECO. Indeed, they are all that we say they are but we simply can't do anthing about it. Over officious, meglamaniacal beaurocrats who relish their little bit of power. For me? I've been waiting over a year now for my appeal to come up. I am considerably older than my Thai wife, by some 20 yeras and do you think she's after me for my money or a better quality of life in the U.K.? What do you think about the U.K? Who in their right mind would want to come and reside in this crap hole of a country? As for my wife, she has considerable wealth and comes from elite Thai stock. She is lowering herself to come and live in this country as I cannot leave here myself due to court orders, etc. etc. Even her position did not excuse us from the ECO infering that she was a prostitute and that the marriage was not subsisting. So, I ask you all, now doesn't that just blow your prejudices straight out of the window? Listen, each case if different and who says you cannot fall for a bar girl and get ripped off if you want? We're all adults and if that's what floats your boat then who are we to judge and take the moral high ground. It matters not, you will all be dealt the same blow when you sit before the ECO. Its a big game really, more of luck and cunning than sincerity and justice. Why not all get together, outside the Tribunal (88 Rosebery Ave., London. EC1) and hold against your chests a picture of your spouse/partner. A bit of news coverage goes a long way to highlight this sort of injustice. As a 'founding' member of Fathers 4 Justice, I know this sort of campaign works - it just depends how eager you all are to make it work. Maybe apathy will rule as usual! I'll be there on the 16th January 2006 at 10am. Maybe see some of you there...? Good Luck

    Thai Divorce law

By Anonymous, Created on: 02/12/2004, Last updated on: 09/01/2009

» I heard from a farang that under Thai law men can divorce women in two days. But for a woman, it takes two years. The reasoning being that women are thought of as temperamental creatures, prone to wild mood swings, who need plenty of time to calm down...

    • Anonymous commented : Boss You got one thing wrong. There is no man shortage over 30. Every year, the March of Dimes organization in Seattle hosts a March of Dimes Bid for Bachelors, where dates with bachelors are auctioned to the women. For the October 18, 1990, event, the chairwoman described the volunteer bachelors as "everyday kinds of guys." These "everyday kind of guys” were an artist, a stock broker, a doctor, a hydroplane racer, businessmen and even a retired diplomat." If these are what women consider "everyday kinds of guys," then the vast majority of men, whose incomes and professions do not compare, must qualify as ‘barstards”. Clearly, there is no "man shortage." Only an abundance of shallow women!

    Buying property in Thailand

By Anonymous, Created on: 17/02/2006, Last updated on: 11/11/2011

» Nothing much to say here is there, i think that IAN has told us all there is to know and believe me.......... .he's right.

    • Anonymous commented : I.m in full agreement with Carlton. Buying property and the manipulation to make money out of it later, besides , land is very sensitive issue, it is not a share or a stock . Afterall, what a foreigner needs land for ?, better stay home and farm there, Thailand and any other homelands are not for sale.. That was a Western idea to justify more looting of foreign land, since they have looted most of the world's wealth just as they did with the new world continents.

    • Anonymous commented : e buying a home, investing in stocks, wouldn't you do an in-depth analysis? After spending time working and living in Thailand I have grown weary. I have seen and experienced too much. I have since returned to the US. I was so happy to return. While on my way back in the Narita airport I found a writing on the wall of the toilet that I would like to share. It was so profound that I wrote it down. It said, "This is my last flight home after living in Thailand for 5 years. I was the GM of a medium sized company. I leave with this life lesson to share with you. Don't trust anything anyone of them says. You may think they are stupid and you are probably right. but they excell at deception. It is all they know. They will exceed your wildest imagination to cheat, lie, and steal." This comes from a man who has spent 5 years in Thailand. Learn from him. Good Luck to you. I truly wish you well.

Changes and Effects of Foreign Business Act

By Anonymous, Created on: 10/02/2007, Last updated on: 27/01/2015

» The purpose of this act since 1970s, is though no one clarify openly, to protect local industry against the foreign market invasion. Therefore FBA is in fact Domestic Industry Protection Act. Since 1990s of open door policy, Thailand had promoted vigorously FDI - foreign direct investment of almost...

    • Anonymous commented : Migo, Yes, it is a simple mathmatics that if foreign shareholders dispose suplus share in Thai stock market, most of Thai people expect they pick up the scattering falling stock free of charge. The damaged countries will show up with retaliatory measure, like raising this "Thai agenda' to international institute such as WTO and the damaged foreign firm wil sue to own court or international court. Such ghosts will hang around Thai economy and it will collapse in a morning. The buyer of free falling stock will be prohibited for next transaction until the legal claim is cleared. Then, Thailand will not be able to remain "Mai Pen Rai" status. I believe Thai policy makers will waste some more time until they realize the mistake. FBA is not such adhoc appointee's job and it must have been conveyed to the next legitimate government. They are real revolutionary than the military coup leaders are. What a nonsense !. Migo, your investment may await for next 10 years to fruit if any or written off like useless papers. Be scrupulous !. Always the world rolls beyond Thai wisdom.

if married in thailand can she claim for half of what you own in uk

By Anonymous, Created on: 08/09/2007, Last updated on: 02/11/2007

» if married in thailand i am a uk man she is thai lady can she have a claim on my property and my bussiness if we were to divorce

    • Anonymous commented : I think you guys need some professional advice in this regard. Today thai girls are wise and mostly it is them to chase you to register marriage. All property acquired and kept in, say in London before this thai marriage, is of course excluded to divide when thai divorce. However wise thai wife tracks them down on pillow and half drunken farang gave all past information to her. Then she will chase you to sell them and buy new condo nearby London, or if they are stock, let you switch from BP to Shell stock. If you do this, all your money is subject to share her. Even if you dont confess, Thai resident lawyors or 'True' detective service in London track down your personal information about double marriage, hidden property and hidden children. My best advice to all of you are Dont register marriage, but support thai wife and if you really love her, buy a house to her, and say clearly "This is all what I can do for you because I love you". That is it, then your life will be safer. If you have new child from thai wife, you can concede title to child with its fater - your name, then your wife and her sibling can not sell it without your attention to the registration office (in Thailand, regional land department, Do not put thai wife name as the inheritant, or her brothers will do harm to you children). Once again, the best advice to all of you farang men is, do not register marriage.

    Meeting a suitable girl

By Anonymous, Created on: 15/09/2007, Last updated on: 27/12/2007

» Anybody got any tips on the best way to meet a suitable Thai girl for marriage? I live in the Middle East.

    • Anonymous commented : David, i am not so sure about your remarks. Yes , most of the bar girls of Pat Pong ,Pattaya etc are from the poorer , darker skinned families of farming stock. But there really are other places to meet Thai girls than those already mentioned. On several occaisions i have been able to strike up conversations with ladies with lighter skin and even had casual dates with them, always treating them with respect, in fact i am still in contact with some after several years. It really depends on yourself, maybe that they are more shy and cautious than the average bar girl who needs the money and has to strike asap. Look again David and don't be too hasty. Anyhow, whats wrong with the darker skinned ladies, i just love them.

Thai wife always asks for more money, keeps her 1 Million BHT in her bank. WHY???

By Anonymous, Created on: 07/01/2008, Last updated on: 03/01/2009

» I had known her for 4 months, got engaged while visiting for the first time for 2 weeks, yet, only 2 months later, felt the pressure to pay the 250 K BHT for the 1 rai village lot. She says she has 1 Million BHT in the bank, but, does not want to touch it (keeping it for her 2 kids future…?)...

    • ginaSMITH commented : It's a funny thing about middle aged men and their Thai girlfriends who are young enough to be their daughter. No wonder they become a laughing stock - to everyone that is except the family they left behind. My husband met one such parasite when he was in Bangkok - after their first meeting, she sent an e-mail asking for "more money" - when I say "she" I mean her friend, as she could not speak, never mind write English. But never mind, my husband of 35 years tells me she is different - of course she is - she is not typical, she worked in a bar, had a daughter and no husband - cliche or what??? She loves him, not for the fact that because of him she now lives in a posh apartment, does not work and her child is at private school, whilst back in his home country, I struggle financially, his children have totally lost respect and he is laughing stock amongst everyone who knew him If I had not to sit with the knowledge, that I had worked all my life for "our future" and our children's future, to see it all go to some bar girl - sorry ex-bar girl, and her daughter, I could also laugh. But of course, she loves him for his personality and himself, not his pocket
