General wealthiness

» Reading the Defence Forces chief's statement, I am struck by how selfless and self-sacrificing he is trying to make army officers sound and then I remember all the profitable businesses that army officers have been involved in and I wonder whether any of these businesses are now army-free or army-lite as the army chief promised shortly after a soldier went berserk and killed a lot of innocent people because the thought he was being cheated in a land deal by his commanding office.

Dire lack of security?
News, Postbag, Published on 11/02/2020
» We are all too familiar with the events that occurred at Terminal 21 in Korat. It seems that every article concentrates on what happened after the shooter arrived at the mall. But what is not being mentioned is what occurred prior to his arrival. What we know is that he shot his superior officer and, according to the news article, he then stole a collection of arms and ammunition. This would lead one to believe that he was armed prior to obtaining the weapons used in the attack. He then took his haul and went to another location and stole a vehicle which he then drove off the base to the mall. So why was the soldier armed in the first place? As I recall weapons in barracks were kept in a secure location, locked and issued individually as needed. All transactions were recorded, and an inventory taken daily.

» Re: "Chadchart offers his anti-graft recipe", (BP, Sept 7). Governor Chadchart says that honest leaders with a strong commitment to tackling graft are the key to fighting corruption. I fully agree and call on him to be a role model in being such a leader. Thus, he should not only be corruption-free himself but also committed to eradicating corruption.
