    Headless chickens

    Oped, Postbag, Published on 09/01/2021

» So, on Jan 8 we had the headline "Gov u-turns on Mor Chana" concerning the tracking device Mor Chana. And "Covid travel permit 'impractical'" concerning interprovincial travel documents. And with many other backtracking moves by those in power, it once again shows that decisions are made without thinking them through.

» Re: "THAI 'sorry' as pilots snag 1st-class seats", (BP, Oct 20). The apology offered by Thai Airways International president Sumeth Damrongchaitham, for the behaviour of THAI's two pilots, who refused to take off unless two of the airline's first-class passengers were ejected from their seats for the company's off-duty pilots, is not enough.

» Re: "Officials 'must capture Yingluck'," (BP, Jan 12). We should all extend our sympathy to the government for having to resist pressure from various sources to pursue extradition proceedings against Yingluck Shinawatra.

    BMA's Mahakan mess

    News, Postbag, Published on 21/01/2017

» It is with deep disappointment that we have read Peerawat Jariyasombat's strangely ill-informed article, "A lesson in development" (BP, Jan 16, 2017). In a move that seems calculated to pander to the greed of developers rather than nurture the human resources represented by local populations, Khun Peerawat hails the efforts of Korean authorities to replace an existing population with an artist colony, but says nothing about the fate of the original residents.

    Chaos and confusion

    News, Postbag, Published on 13/08/2016

» Why has our illustrious leader stated that the recent bombings were to "cause chaos and confusion", insinuating that it was the absent ex-prime ministers' followers who are to blame? This statement is in itself inflammatory, and can lead to chaos and confusion. Shooting from the lip again!

    Suppression doomed

    Oped, Postbag, Published on 06/03/2021

» A new generation young people is readying itself to tackle the problems passed on to them by previous generations: the climate emergency, economic inequality and the decomposition of cultural integrity. The spirit of transformation towards sustainability and social justice has not only emerged in Thailand but globally. The willingness to co-create a just and flourishing society in harmony with nature irrespective of the enormous burdens from the past manifests itself in the region as the "Milk Tea Alliance": young people in Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and now even more strongly in Myanmar, India (farmers' protests supported by youth), and likely to be the case also in Malaysia and Indonesia.
