With such a beautiful setting and a wide range of facilities, this resort is intended to impress romantic couples, families and groups of friends alike.

    Hiding in plain sight

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 24/12/2020

» I'm no fan of paintings but I understand folks who are able to enjoy a visual feast by masters such as the likes of Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci or Vincent Van Gogh. I do the same every time I find myself in a magnificent landscape. Indeed, Mother Nature is my favourite artist.

» Nobody is too old to learn and travelling is a great way to do so. With this in mind, 16 villages across the nation together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and several other agencies have recently launched the "Our Lovely Countryside: Silver Age 5.0" campaign aimed at offering senior travellers chances to enjoy new experiences in rural areas.

» After months of business suspension due to Covid-19, several hotels and resorts have resumed operation, and many more are soon to follow suit. Various promotions with special benefits are being offered to draw guests, and income, back to the properties. Thailand's abundance

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 09/04/2020

» April is usually the height of the hot season. The sea, both in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman, is at its best. The forest, meanwhile, may seem lifeless, yet actually there are a lot of interesting things going on in the ecosystem. Most waterfalls, for example, may not be boasting powerful cascades, but the calm, clear water reveals a fascinating array of fish and other aquatic lifeforms that thrive. And guess what: even during this dry period of the year, there are falls in some protected forests where the water continues to flow down rigorously, regardless of what month is shown on the calendar. Too bad I don't have their photographs in digital form and no time to dig through the piles of slides.

» First-time visitors to the northern province of Phayao should be sure to check out the provincial town and, in particular, the famous namesake lake on which it stands. For repeat visitors, however, I suggest exploring the northeastern part of the province, which is made up of Chiang Kham, Phu Sang and Pong districts. Unless, you have plenty of time to spend , don't bother going back to the lake.

    Return to Ko Lanta Yai

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 19/04/2018

» Three years ago I wrote in this column about a biking route in the northern part of Ko Lanta Yai, the elongated island of Krabi province that lends its name to Mu Ko Lanta National Park. That was the only one of my visits to Ko Lanta Yai when I failed to make it to Laem Tanot, the beautiful cape at the southern tip where the park's headquarters and the island's iconic lighthouse are located.

    Nok-ing on Krabi's door

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 19/03/2015

» Unlike most urban areas in the Kingdom, the 143-year-old town of Krabi was not built on flat ground. It's one of the places I've long wanted to explore on two wheels, but have never actually been able to do. The idea of spending an entire tiring day on the long, straight stretches of the southbound Phet Kasem Highway always dampens my enthusiasm. So when a friend at Nok Air recently asked if I would like to join a bike event the airline was organising in Krabi, I did not hesitate to say yes.
