Individuals can generate news by posting comments on blogs, publishing first-hand accounts or uploading interviews. Once on the web, a post becomes available worldwide. For a newspaper that must pay editors, writers, journalists, and all the other costs associated with printing, the economy of the internet is giving the newspaper a run for its money.
