    Swing when you're winning

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 28/09/2018

» When a tremendous amount of hype precedes the release of a game -- or anything, really -- people get nervous. Are expectations too high? Is all the excitement for nothing? So when Spider-Man was announced, I reminded myself to be cautious. It seemed that it was on the track though: Insomniac, developers of the game, recognised the responsibility they had (because they had the power, wink wink) to the character and to fans; the early footage of the game was amazing (another wink wink); and last month at the PlayStation Experience Southeast Asia, I was able to play the game for a good 15 minutes and left even more amped up for its release. But now that the game is out, does it live up to the hype? It most definitely does.

    For the gram

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 31/08/2018

» Let's face it: we live in a day and age where our lives are all about social media. People use it for things as vain as conjuring up the perfect image for their followers, to things like having a good online presence for their business. Whatever the case, one of the main platforms that we use daily (if not hourly) is good ol' Instagram. Since 2010, IG has all of us sharing photos, choosing filters, taking videos, being obsessed with the right aesthetic and posting on our stories. IG is pretty easy to use -- what's so complicated about taking a photo and uploading it -- but come on, you don't want to be an IG noob. Here are six apps to turn your IG cred up a notch, and except for one, all of them are available on the App Store and Google Play.

    Countryside mayhem

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/04/2018

» The latest entry to the Far Cry franchise is finally here after much anticipation. Its predecessor, Far Cry 4, delivered a pretty ruthless villain, a gorgeous open-world environment, but a story that didn't appeal to some and a gameplay that was criticised as being too similar to the previous game. The question now is whether Far Cry 5 avoided these pitfalls.

    Monstrously addictive

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 07/02/2018

» Despite seeing dozens of titles released under the name since its initial debut in 2004, Capcom's Monster Hunter -- the Japanese studio's famed action-RPG franchise -- has never been a mainstream hit. With its admittedly repetitive gameplay loop, nail-biting difficulty and archaic controls, Monster Hunter is one of those games that you either love to death or avoid entirely, with no room in between.

    Guardians of the Galaxy

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/10/2017

» Three years after the original was released, Destiny 2 finally hit shelves after much excitement. Bungie's mythic sci-fi FPS (that's "first-person shooter" for you noobs) stays true to its roots in being chock-filled with multiplayer features and making you obsessed with making sure your character's power level reaches high numbers by getting the rarest and most powerful loot through quests and public events. Of course, there's also the campaign for you to play through, but is this going to be another case of "expansion overload" like the first game? Does Destiny 2's multiplayer features make you want to play it over and over again, even if you're done with the story? Basically, the real question is: "Is this worth my money?"
