The 3G saga continues... for the worse
Database, Don Sambandaraksa, Published on 20/01/2010
» It has been more than a month now since Thailand joined the civilised world when the Turtlephone Organisation of Thailand launched its 3G network in Bangkok and the surrounding areas. I signed up one day after launch. So, how has the experience been? How is the network? How is the customer service and billing?

A small price to pay
Database, Published on 20/01/2010
» Your TOT board put huge red Xs across all the recent auctions and three billion baht worth of contracts to build a fibre-optic network for broadband Internet, and vowed to call new contracts; the decision followed remarks by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva over the high prices of some of the bids, and your TOT will be certain to write new terms of reference for new auctions; the rather complicated auction was run in portions, for various parts of the country, but luckily for TOT turned out to total 3.03 billion baht, a full 0.01 billion below the budget; now they will have to do it all again, and despite what Mr Abhisit says, prices do go up, don't they?

Ads, porn and one-way chat... Twitter test run soon grows tiresome
Database, Gotfried. K, Published on 24/02/2010
» I've recently spent a few weeks playing around with Twitter. No doubt you've heard about it and maybe you're wondering what it's all about. Maybe you already know what it's all about - in that case, I think you'll find my opinion of it is rather different.

No sex please, We're Thai
Brunch, Andrew Biggs, Published on 28/02/2010
» As I write this, a Thai soap opera is going on in the background on my non-flat television. A handsome man in a dirtied shirt is staggering and holding a gun. He is clearly distressed - not through any acting talents, god forbid, but his shirt isn't tucked in and that's a dead giveaway in any Thai soap. His hair remains perfectly combed, and facial features remain as rigid as those of a khunying shuffling out of an Emporium botox clinic.

Twitter - paddling in a toilet bowl of vomit
Database, Gotfried. K, Published on 24/03/2010
» I should caution the reader at the outset that Twitter is, in the words of one of my dear online friends (read: complete stranger), "a toilet bowl of vomit". There are many ways to describe Twitter, but that sums it up quite nicely.
