Thanks to the good condition of roads and convenient public transportation, it's easy for people to travel by land between Thailand and Malaysia. Visitors from Thailand can continue their journey further south to Langkawi, Penang (see the box), Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, and even to Singapore. On the other hand, there are often car rallies from Malaysia travelling to the northernmost province of Thailand, then across to Laos and China.

Despite the good news, the bad news is the country's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) has gradually dropped, according to the latest report from the World Economic Forum.
