    Crash is back

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 06/11/2020

» It's been long overdue but our favourite Bandicoot has finally returned in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Though we've probably had our fill of nostalgia with the superb N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, this is the first all-new title in the series in years. The last title released on a console was on the PS2 generation with the likes of the Wii and Xbox 360. To put that into perspective, the PS2 just celebrated its 20th anniversary. It's definitely been a while, but we're all glad to see Crash crashing and dancing and bouncing on our screens once more.

Reunited and it feels so good

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 01/05/2020

» Back in E3 2015, Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced and welcomed by all fanboys and fangirls of the original 1997 game all over the world. Almost five years later and after a very, very long and anxious wait, the game finally arrived, defying Covid delays and giving gamers yet another good reason to stay at home. Is it better than the original? Perhaps that's the wrong question to ask because it's an entirely different game, but fans of the original will definitely agree that Remake stays faithful to its equivalent and brings nostalgic fun along with a few new twists.

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 16/08/2019

» Living in Bangkok has its share of ups and downs. Then again, what city doesn't? We know we complain about living in the city in every issue we publish (we have plenty more) but that doesn't mean there are people who share the same grievances, but unlike us who just whine, have decided to do something about it. Sure, there are plenty of things to be improved upon or done away within Bangkok and we're pretty sure we all can write a long list. But we're sincerely glad to see that there are services like these that make not just living in Bangkok a little easier, but also living a greener, more-eco friendly life in the city more viable. And who's going to refuse a greener and easier lifestyle? Here are a few services to try out.

    Together at home

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 27/03/2020

» Staying home, barely going out, staying in your PJs for the majority of the day, taking them off to shower some time in the afternoon only to change into fresh cleaner PJs -- welcome to the new normal. I forgot to mention the part where you work from home but let's be honest, are you really working from home or did you just breeze past one season of a TV show you're now re-watching for the fourth time? Nevertheless, we all seem to be confined to our homes for the foreseeable future. You may be the introvert of introverts but even you may get bored and stir-crazy being stuck in one place for a long time. Here are a number of things to give some levity to your lockdown.

» Hideo Kojima's long-awaited game, which has been shrouded in much secrecy, has been out for a good number of weeks now. Back when content was just being teased and trailers were being released, no one had any idea what was going on. Now that the game is out, we finally understand... sort of. A bit. Kinda.

The art and science of burgers

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 03/05/2019

» Rattanapong "Taiki" Tsubota made waves two years ago when he started Homeburg. If it isn't obvious already, the name is a mix of "home" and "burger", which encapsulates the burgers he made back then. But that isn't the reason why his burgers went viral. Aside from being meticulously and precisely crafted, he was serving four to eight burgers a day, eventually racking up a long wait list. Now, he's set up shop for the next six months at 72 Courtyard with Bun Meat & Cheese by Homeburg, where he's serving his famed burgers with a slightly higher availability at 100 burgers a day. We sat down with the burgerman to talk about his method and process, and why he wants to keep a limit on the burgers.

» As the year comes to a close and we're all looking back at the past 12 months with introspection, at Guru we will stick to time-honoured tradition of being reflectively snarky. Quarantine 2.0

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 15/01/2021

» Let's be honest and admit that it was bound to happen. The second we got wind of a domestic case in Samut Sakhon, it was only a question of when things would be ordered to close. Granted, it may not be a hard lockdown like the first time around. However, as of the writing of this article, we're upwards of 10,000 cases now compared to the now-measly 1,000 or so we had the first time around so it's safe to say that things are a little worse than before. However, vaccines are set to arrive next month so there's a glimmer of hope. All we have to do is once again limit ourselves from going out in public unless absolutely necessary. I know the thought of having to once again lock ourselves at home is a drag, and that's why we've got this handy list for you. Here's how to thrive -- or at the very least, survive -- the second quarantine.
