The old residence of former Phatthalung governors is located in Tambon Lampam, Muang district of Phatthalung and consists of the old house and the new house. The old house was made of wood in the traditional central Thai style. It was commissioned by Phraya Aphai-Borirak who ruled Phatthalung during 1869-1888. He was a favourite official of King Rama VI. He resigned in 1888 due to health problems, but was made a consultant since then. He lived here until his death in 1903. His eldest son Nate became the next governor and built the new house, a brick building with the traditional Thai roof in 1891 behind the old house. Holding the same title as his father, Nate was the last governor under the feudal system and the first governor under the new "provincial" system which was introduced in 1900. Also on view here is Phatthalung royal vessel.
