A friend in Cagayan de Oro, in the Philippines’ southern region of Mindanao, emailed me to ask about the floods, and whether the annual Suan Luang plant fair at Suan Luang will be held this year. An avid plant collector, he has been a regular visitor to the show, finding it to be a good source of new varieties to add to his collection. I told him that the show would probably be cancelled or at least downsized considerably compared to previous years as many plant nurseries had been destroyed by the floods.
